So we came for a surf contest / surf trip to the Azore Islands in Portugal. The surf has been unsuccessful, heat wise and training wise… in other words DEAD FLAT! But our sight seeing tourist shoes have been in full throttle with not stop action. Of all places to come without waves we have not had one boring moment to spare… check out the fun, and this is only the half way marker! ~CHECK OUT PICTURES HERE~
The US Open has come and gone and it may have been the fastest and most hectic week of my life this year. But I would do it ALL over again because it was oh-so much fun. I wish I could have made this video longer and captured all the madness that went down. But I’m sorry to say that I just didn’t have the energy or more importantly the time. So here’s a tidbit of what I got ~ ENJOY!
I just got back home from my summer vacation with the family in South Lake Tahoe and it was AMAZING!!!
We scored the most beautiful weather, and stayed at the most beautiful house right on the lake. I bronzed, waked boarded and even won a little mullah at the casino. I hope we go back next year!
Body Glove flew us on down to Nicaragua for a little fun in the sun time to get surf and lifestyle shots. I picked up a tan / sunburn on my way out and we got to check out Holly Beck’s new home. To sum up the trip: Cheyne Magnusson, Maria Gonzalez, Holly B and I all sweated it out in the 90% humidity, surfing all day in bath water and made some interesting creepy crawler friends for 5 days
So I’ve been lagging a little on my blog videos considering I’ve been home, re-packed and have already landed in another country. But I’ve finally found some time here in Nicaragua while it’s windy to put together my France footage for you guys to check out, so here’s some clips of all us girls in Hossegor, cruising town and hangin at the comp site!
We didn’t have long to adjust to jet lag, unpack or let alone wax and fin up our boards before the contest started. First stop was checking in at the comp site and then —- well, you’ll see what else happens through out the day!
Trains, Planes and Automobiles…add a smart car and a luggage cart to the mix, and you have summed up the 24 hours it took me and my two BBF’s on tour (Clair and Sage) to get to Europe. It was a mission as usual, but ALWAYS FUN 🙂
So this week I got hit up by the crew over at LoCale Magazine. They asked for me to be the “local feature” and wanted to shoot me for the cover along with an 8 page spread for their first issue launching this Summer!!! Of course I said… WHEN, WHERE AND WHAT TIME??
It was such a fun and exciting shoot and so much different than my usual “au-natural beach girl, wavy hair bikini prancing look.” I was definitely out of my element to say the least. But don’t take my word for it, check it out and you tell me!
Casio Shoot Take One took place in Australia in March. Unfortunately the watches never showed up, so doing product shots with no product wasn’t really an option. Now here’s Casio Shoot Take 2: Cali that’s suppose to look like Australia, hopefully I don’t get busted for letting the cat out of the bag. See the rest of this entry »
Finally back home in my be-loved “bubble” Newport Beach, and it feels soooo good to sleep in my own bed and eat my delicious home cooked meals. I love traveling and had an absolute BLAST in Australia, but it’s good to be back home. The weather has been insanely warm for March (summer come early) and I couldn’t be happier. Sage cruised down for the weekend for a little fun in the sun action, and we were frothing the two footers.
Thanks to the FFS Crew for making my first stop on tour come alive in Australia, I had so much fun and without them, my Oz-Blog would not have been nearly as fun!
Congrats to Taj Burrow and Josh Kerr, an all aussy final with Josh scoring a perfect 10.0 and taking the 6*Prime Win. I got the full coverage with amazing footage from the semi-finals including a little chat with the boys!
I had an amazing time on the Gold Coast, now I’m off to Western Australia for the Margaret River Master’s WQS Event. For only having to get across the country, it was a freaking mission! Dropped the rental car off to take a taxi to the train station to get a ticket for the Brisbane Airport just to get ripped off on board fees to fly to W.A, where we re-rented a car to drive 4 hours to Perth in the middle of the night trying not to get lost since the contest could potentially start at 8am. EEEK!
Just found out that the Gudauskas Boys are staying right next door to my pad on the Gold Coast, so I snuck over for some laughs and then we cooked up a mean BBQ chicken dinner.
Casio and the crew flew over to Australia to meet up and shoot some surf and model shots. It was a very successful shoot, minus my almost broken toe. I can’t even describe what happened in words so you just have to watch and see for yourself the pain inflicted on the little pinky that almost didn’t make it home 🙂
Event Status = ON I had an amazing, woke up early and caught a few waves at Snapper, and when I say few I mean literally 3. EVERYONE was out which made it extremely difficult to catch waves. I did a few run arounds before I gave up and just parted with the fact that Green Mount is where I was meant to surf. Check out the video for some Quiky Pro Surf action and see what other Cali Girl I ran into on the other side of the world.
For another rainy filled day, we are making the most of it. We hit up Burleigh Heads for a quick surf session in the a.m. followed by a mean bowling session in the p.m. Im not claiming any bowling skills here, but I did come awfully close to taking out Mr. J.Smith himself.
Day 1 Blog 1 of Wheres Erica
I’m on the Gold Coast of Australia during the Quiky Pro where Im staying in an awesome apartment that over looks Snapper Rocks. Heres an intro of what my blog is about, straight into the start of what will hopefully be a trip to remember. Which I can already vouch for considering my first surf session was threatened with a tsunami warning and everyone was pulled out of the water. No-more spoiler alerts, you have to take a look at the video!
